In an effort to understand what we will encounter when we get to the asteroid I met with the geology and mineralology scientists of Naturhistoriska Museet in Stockholm. We had a very interesting discussion, both on the type of instrumentation we need to bring on the mission, but also how to understand the data we get. They will help us validate the payload. On the picture we see an example from the Museums extremely extensive mineral collection of what we might find when we get to the asteroid. Anyway, it seems like the suggested payload was not at all far off from their wish list.
